- Requesting new orders from referring offices when necessary by phone and/or fax.

Job description
- Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR).
- Provide direct and indirect patient care within the office assistance scope of practice under the direct supervision of the physician and nursing staff.
- Perform other clerical tasks related to patient records and the EHR.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned by the supervisor or physician.
- Accompanies provider into the exam room and documents the visit in the patient’s progress note including the history, physical examination, assessment and orders, medication, and allergy lists.
- Enter information on the face sheet, including medication changes.
- Looks up patients' pertinent past medical records, at Physician’s request.
- Ensures all data entered in the EHR is accurate
- Rooms patients.
- Compile medical data and enter it into EHR.
- Communicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.
- Clean and stock exam rooms.
- Assist supervisor, nurses, and providers as requested.
- Performs clerical duties in support of clinical research under the direction of the Schapiro Center Clinical Research Coordinator.
- Collects, records, and files patient study data and paperwork.
- Input information into the study database.
- Maintains subject files in accordance with study protocols.
- Assembles patient enrollment and visit packets.
- Perform other clerical tasks related to patient records and the EHR.
- Scan paper documents into the appropriate file in the EHR
- Assist infusion center with clerical tasks – enter scheduled patient appointments into EHR, scanning.
- Assist with chart and document preparation for patient appointments.
- Perform patient tracking.
- Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry or other related field (pre-med or pre-PA students seeking experience prior to attending a professional education program) - OR -
- At least 1 year of experience as a scribe in a medical office or hospital setting
- Experience entering data into computer databases (preferably experience with electronic health records)
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Patient-centered; strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Ability to work independently, exhibit mature judgment and make sound decisions.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
