Antimicrobials are prescription medications used to treat infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. They work by killing these microbes, or preventing them from reproducing. Some of the most common ailments that are treated with antibiotics include pneumonia, meningitis, bladder, kidney, or urinary tract infections, acne, bronchitis, conjunctivitis, ear, dental, or skin infections.
