Janssen Study for Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a disease of the large intestine and colon in which the lining of the colon becomes inflamed. UC is chronic, meaning the condition does not have a cure, and symptoms can be lifelong. Symptoms can include frequent or urgent bowel movements, abdominal pain, blood or mucous in stool, fever, lack of appetite or weight loss, diarrhea, and fatigue.

Although there is no existing cure for UC, research is underway on an investigational medication option for adults 18 years or older. This study, called the QUASAR Study, is trying to determine the safety and effectiveness of the investigational medicine and you may be able to take part.

Who can take part in the study?

You may be able to participate in this study if you:

  •  Are male or female, 18 years of age or older
  •  Have been diagnosed with UC for at least three months

Additional eligibility criteria will be assessed by the study doctor or staff during the screening process prior to being enrolled in the study and receiving any investigational medicine. Not all individuals will qualify to participate in the research.

18+ years old

Key Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria:

Patients must be at least 18 years old. They should also have a confirmed diagnosis of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, and have demonstrated intolerance, loss of response, or inadequate response to conventional or biologic therapies for UC.

Patient Commitment Duration:

Approximately 56-68 weeks with the potential to enter a two-year long-term extension study.
