AstraZeneca Study for the Prevention of COVID-19
Research Study for COVID-19 Prevention for Those with Impaired Immune Systems
The SUPERNOVA Study is looking for people with an impaired immune system to take part. This study is looking at an investigational medication called AZD3152 (study drug) that is designed to protect people with an impaired immune system from contracting COVID-19.
People whose immune system is impaired from a disease, treatment, or a difference in their genes often need additional help to fight infections. This study will look at the study drug to see if it is safe in people with an impaired immune system.
For more information about this study, download the study flyer.
What will the study involve?
Participants will be in the SUPERNOVA Study for about 15 months with about 11 visits at the study center to check for any safety concerns. Extra visits at the study center and/or at home (where applicable) may be required if participants develop COVID-19 symptoms.
If you take part in the study, you will need to:
- Carefully follow all instructions from the study doctor
- Attend all study visits
- Inform the study doctor about any changes in your current medications
- Not take part in other research studies involving another study drug while you are in this study
- Inform the study doctor about any symptoms you have during the study.
People who are able to get pregnant should use highly effective birth control or remain abstinent from 4 weeks before receiving AZD3152 or EVUSHELD/AZD7442 until 6 months after their last dose. You can only receive COVID-19 antivirals for prophylaxis (prevention) at least 2 weeks before receiving AZD3152 or EVUSHELD/AZD7442, or during the study until approximately 30 days after starting the trial.
Who can take part in the study?
You, or someone you care for, may be able to take part if you/they:
- Are 12 years of age or older
- Have an impaired immune system
- Have not tested positive for COVID-19 or received a COVID-19 vaccine in the past 3 months
- Weigh at least 40 kg
